Long-Term Recovery
At New Pathways Recovery and Wellness, we address the causes of addiction, as well as the symptoms. Studies have indicated that traditional addiction therapies, when combined with brainwave regulation therapies, dramatically increase the success rate of long term recovery.
Did you know that studies have indicated over 50% of all addicts suffer from PTSD? That is because addiction can be the result of a deep-seated emotional trauma and incredibly most individuals are not even aware of the issue. Until the underlying emotional issue is discovered and resolved, successful addiction recovery can be difficult (if not impossible.) Emotional trauma and PTSD alter brain wave regulation and require multiple unique therapies for lasting change.
Because traditional “talk therapy” only activates the left side of the brain, it is of little use when dealing with emotional trauma until the event has been uncovered. This is why individuals having suffered childhood trauma can attend counseling for years with little to no results. Emotional trauma is seated deep within the right side of the brain, in the limbic system to be precise. Only experiential somatic-based therapy and specialized equipment can access the right side of the brain and truly resolve and balance the emotional issue.
At New Pathways Recovery and Wellness, we provide two specific and comprehensive substance abuse rehabilitation programs: Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and General Outpatient (GOP). Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) runs 8 – 16 weeks and encompasses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Counseling and Individual Counseling as required. IOP provides 3 days of group classes incorporating process groups, relapse prevention, neurology of addiction, yoga, nutrition and mind/body connection. Groups are available in the evenings. General Outpatient (GOP) is available as well both mornings and evenings and is 2-3 days a week. Individual counseling is provided weekly, or more as needed.
What Happens Next?
Fast forward 5 years. Our Day Dreamer is a full blown cocaine addict and our Hyper Active is a raging alcoholic. What began as an attempt to feel like everyone else has led them to a life of addiction. No job, no friends, no family, and no home—but they don’t care.
The brain is a powerful force and, when confronted with going back to “the way it was”, will destroy the body to maintain the status quo.
Moving Forward
By encouraging someone to enter treatment, you are asking them to go back to the old life. The one where they couldn’t think, focus or relax.
The request for alcohol and drug rehab can be a hard to ask of someone, but it doesn’t have to be when you have the best rehabilitation by New Pathways Recovery and Wellness.
